Public buses and payment
Bus stops are at the terminal, with connections towards Queenstown and Frankton and changes through Frankton Interchange. Choose the service by destination and travel date. Keep the final walk from the stop to your accommodation in mind, especially with luggage or an uphill address. Consult the actual timetable for the day rather than planning around an assumed first or last departure.
Under ORC fares dated 1 November 2026, adults pay 2.50 NZD with Bee Card or 10 NZD cash on an airport journey. An ordinary city bus cash fare is 4 NZD, so keep the airport fare separate. Bank cards are not accepted as the fare payment method on the bus. A Bee Card costs 5 NZD and requires at least 5 NZD of credit to be loaded.
Eligible child and youth Bee Card concessions require the appropriate conditions to be attached to the card. Age alone also does not give overseas visitors automatic senior free travel. Arrange the payment method before boarding, and keep a separate plan for any journey outside the bus timetable.
Car rental and parking
Car collection can be terminal-adjacent or off-airport, depending on the rental arrangement. Use the collection and return instructions for the company booked, including its operating hours. A rental car can fit independent excursions, while a stay built around organised trips may already include transport on those particular days. Compare those needs with organised day trips before committing to a car for the entire stay.
Terminal parking and the Brookes Road Park & Ride are different facilities. Park & Ride uses cashless payment and a return shuttle, so allow for the connection when planning a flight departure.
